CNN projects that Democrat Kathleen Hochul has won the special election for the New York 26th District Congressional seat, in a race that gained national attention as a proxy battle on the Republican Medicare plan.
The seat is a pick-up for Democrats, in a district where Republicans had initially been favored. Hochul will replace former Rep. Chris Lee, who resigned over pictures and e-mails of him looking for a date on Craigslist.
