Good morning. Heads up right now:
There are only a few high-risk days from the National Weather Service each year.
And this is one of them.
Bob says:
This will be a
*high-risk day* in the classic tornado belt area.
Bob says
there is potential for large, killer storms in Kansas in Oklahoma.
Please take care of yourself and
stay alert to weather updates.
------
This comes as we try to get a handle on the extent of damage from Joplin, Missouri's tornado.
They are looking for survivors, though the weather is delivering misery upon more misery.
------
The survivors are telling incredible stories: …of how they
ran for cover on the way home from high school graduation, and the school is decimated.
…of
cowering in the bathroom at home, and that being all that's left of the house.
…of the front of the Walmart blowing away while
winds blew out the windows of cars where they huddled… and hail hitting them through the windows.
I even heard about
a victim allegedly texting that he was alive from under the rubble!
It's something to hear and see, as
thoughts and prayers and muscle go to Joplin… More on those types of stories this morning.
-------
Another big story:
Opening statements in the Casey Anthony trial. We're expecting that to happen in the 9am Eastern hour. You'll see that live right here and throughout the day on HLN.
Our
Ryan Smith is there as things get under way.
If there are any bombshells, they'll probably come during those opening statements.
-------
Awwww…
An NFL rookie was the star of the 8th grade dance. I don't mean years ago.
I mean now.
---------
What college major will get you the most $$$ in the long run?
---------
A good promotion gone bad? The release of
Lady Gaga's new album nearly shut down one site.
---------
More on these stories and others when you shake off the zzzzzzz's.
