Former Sen. John Edwards, a former presidential candidate, is expected to be indicted today barring any last-minute developments, a source with knowledge of the investigation tells CNN.
There have been plea discussions ongoing between Edwards' attorneys and federal prosecutors, but no agreement has been reached. A grand jury has been investigating whether money given to support Edwards' mistress, Rielle Hunter, by benefactors of Edwards should have been considered campaign donations -- a contention Edwards' team has disputed.
