Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn will no longer face criminal charges related to allegations that he sexually assaulted a hotel housekeeper, the housekeeper's attorney said Monday after meeting with prosecutors.
A grand jury indicted Strauss-Kahn in May on charges that he sexually assaulted housekeeper Nafissatou Diallo at his luxury New York hotel suite. Strauss-Kahn's attorneys have insisted that any sexual encounter was consensual.
A judge freed Strauss-Kahn on July 1 after prosecutors learned Diallo had lied about the specifics of her whereabouts after the incident and past details of an asylum application and information on tax forms.
