The Nobel Memorial Prize in economics was awarded Monday to U.S. professors Thomas Sargent and Christopher Sims for their research on how interest rates, tax cuts and other policies affect the economy.
The prize is awarded annually by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and is worth about about $1.47 million.
