CNN Breaking News

According to State of the Union excerpts released by the White House, President Obama tonight will "lay out a blueprint for an economy that's built to last - an economy built on American manufacturing, American energy, skills for American workers, and a renewal of American values."

He will also call for a "future where we're in control of our own energy, and our security and prosperity aren't so tied to unstable parts of the world. An economy built to last, where hard work pays off, and responsibility is rewarded."

The speech to a joint sitting of Congress is an annual political event, but the stakes are higher this year with Obama's re-election on the line in November.

Tune in to CNN, CNN.com/live and the CNN mobile apps tonight at 9 ET to watch Obama's address.
