CNN Breaking News

Eight in 10 Americans continue to believe the economy is in poor shape, and just less than half think President Barack Obama is doing a good job, according to the latest CNN/ORC International Poll.

The poll showed a dramatic drop in those who said economic conditions are "very poor" -- from 51% in November to 38% today. But most of those people switched their assessment from "very poor" to "somewhat poor."

Meanwhile, Obama's approval rating was largely unchanged since mid-December, with 47% now approving of how Obama is handling his job, compared with 49% a month ago.
