CNN Breaking News

Mitt Romney will win the Maryland Republican presidential primary, CNN projects.

The former Massachusetts governor is expected to take the majority of the state's 37 delegates. He’ll win 13 delegates that are winner take all, and the rest of the delegates are to be awarded proportionally based on the outcome in the state's eight districts.

The win will put Romney past the halfway mark toward the 1,144 delegates needed to clinch the nomination. Romney holds a wide delegate lead over the other major GOP presidential candidates, according to CNN estimates.

The polls have closed in the District of Columbia, but results are just beginning to come in there. Polls close in Wisconsin, Tuesday's third contest, at 9 p.m. ET.
