Roger Federer dashed the hopes of Andy Murray and his British followers as the Swiss tennis star won the men's tennis final at Wimbledon 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4.
Each man was eyeing a place in history.
Federer earned a record-tying seventh Wimbledon title and a record-breaking 17th Grand Slam victory.
Murray, of Scotland, had been aiming to become the first British man to win the men's singles title since Fred Perry in 1936.
