Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. will announce today that he is resigning from Congress, a source close to Jackson said.

Jackson, an Illinois Democrat, had been undergoing treatment recently at the Mayo Clinic, which said in August he was suffering from depression.

Jackson, 47, won his bid for a 10th term in the U.S. House this month despite making no public campaign appearances and having been out of the public eye since May.
