CNN Breaking News

There will be no new elected entries in the National Baseball Hall of Fame for 2013, the hall's president announced Wednesday.

It is only the eighth time that the Baseball Writers' Association of America has not elected an eligible player.

Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Roger Clemens were among those eligible for the hall for the first time this year, but their career achievements have been clouded by alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Thirty-four other players were eligible.
