Deposed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy is in a safe place and no charges have been filed against him, Egyptian government officials said today.
Earlier reports said Morsy was being held under arrest at the Republican Guard headquarters after a coup last week.
The military, which ousted Morsy, scheduled a midday news conference as it sought to portray itself as a stabilizing force in the splintering nation.
