CNN Breaking News

The Iowa caucuses have begun, and early results from CNN's entrance poll of Iowans arriving early at caucus sites show Texas Rep. Ron Paul, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in the first tier of preferences by respondents.

More than 100,000 Iowans are expected to cast ballots at 809 caucus sites, representing 1774 precincts throughout the state.

Actual vote totals from the first of Iowa's caucus sites should arrive within the hour, and CNN plans to project a likely winner this evening.

Tune in tonight for CNN's live special coverage of the Iowa caucuses and follow real-time results on CNNPolitics.com, the CNN Mobile app on iPhone, Android and Blackberry and on Twitter at #cnnelections.
