The latest wave of CNN Iowa entrance polls shows Texas Rep. Ron Paul, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in a virtual tie.
The entrance polls show former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in fourth, followed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman.
Paul showed the strongest support among voters age 17-29, while Romney was the preference of those 65 and older. Strong support for Santorum was expressed among those 45-64.
Early results from the first of Iowa's 809 caucus sites are starting to come in, and CNN expects to project a likely winner within hours.
