With 49% of the precincts reporting, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney are virtually tied in the Iowa caucuses.

Santorum and Romney each have 24%, while Paul has 22% of the votes so far. Santorum has a slight edge in actual votes, with about 50,000 votes cast so far.

The voting results are similar to those from CNN's entrance poll of Iowans arriving earlier at caucus sites.
