Mitt Romney will win the Hawaii Republican caucuses, CNN projects.

Seventeen of the 20 Hawaii delegates are tied to the caucuses, and the state will award those delegates proportionally. A total of 1,144 delegates is needed to clinch the GOP nomination.

Earlier, Romney won the American Samoa GOP caucuses, local party officials tell CNN.

On Tuesday, Rick Santorum was projected to sweep the two southern primaries in Alabama and Newt Gingrich.
