The United States is seeking to extradite former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden from Hong Kong and has contacted authorities there, a senior administration official said Saturday.
Snowden, who admitted leaking top-secret details about U.S. surveillance programs, has been charged in the United States with espionage and theft of government property.
At the time of the leaks he held a top-secret clearance as an employee of defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton.
